For A Palestinian

Camden People’s Theatre

Theatre poster for premiere of Aaron Kilercioglu and Bilal Hasna’s play For A Palestinian at Camden People’s Theatre, September 2021. Included below is unused draft design.

Bilal has always been obsessed with love stories. In this one-person show, he tells you his favourite – the true story of Palestinian poet and translator Wa’el Zuaiter. Join Bilal as he ventures through the orange groves of Jaffa, the piazzas in Rome, and the shisha bars of Edgware Road, piecing together this untold story, and asking what it means to be a Palestinian in the West.

Had I the heavens’ embroidered cloths,         Enwrought with golden and silver light,        The blue and the dim and the dark cloth        Of night and light and the half-light,        I would spread the cloths under your feet:        But I, being poor, have only my dreams;        I have spread my dreams under your feet;        Tread softly because you tread on my dreams.        Aedh Wishes for the Cloths of Heaven by W.B. Yeats, 1899
